Per Lutken
Per Lutken was a master of glass design, Per Lütken b1916 d 1998 he trained at The School of Arts and Crafts in Copenhagen mainly technical drawing and painting. He was employed by Holmegaard in 1942 where he remained until his death in 1998. During in this 56 year career he created some 3,000 glass designs. Per Lutken was an inspirational figure at Holmegaard he pushed his glass blowers hard with some of his designs, they would often complain about how difficult it was to blow the designs to which Per Lutken would give his ambitious response “well who said things were supposed to be easy?”
Per Lutken created a number of memorable designs including “Canada” and “Copenhagen” tableware, “Duckling or Beak” vase and the “Selandia” dish.
